Summary
The National Research Council requires specialized hazardous waste disposal services for saturated Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) contaminated with perfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS). The project involves replacing spent GAC and transporting it to a licensed disposal facility for safe destruction.
Description
The purpose of this work is to replace the spent (i.e. saturated) Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) in the drainage groundwater treatment system within building U-96 and replace it with new GAC. The spent GAC, which is saturated with perfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS), will then be transported to a licensed disposal facility and safely disposed and/or destroyed.
