The Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir (SR1), commonly referred to as the Springbank Dam, is an off-stream flood mitigation facility located approximately 15 kilometres west of the City of Calgary in Rocky View County, Alberta. Unlike conventional dams, SR1 is designed to operate at or near full capacity only during significant flood events, generally those equal to or exceeding a 1-in-200-year occurrence.
