The FCDO is establishing an EPD Support Programme to provide technical assistance to country teams and central FCDO staff working to reduce preventable deaths of mothers, babies, and children by 5-10% by 2030 in 11 flagship countries. The TA will address three core pillars: strengthening health systems, advancing human rights and sexual/reproductive health rights, and improving healthier environments (WASH, climate, nutrition, air quality). The programme will operate as part of a new EPD Centre of Expertise, offering flexible, cross-cutting support ranging from rapid policy responses to longer-term technical inputs and partnerships, targeting fragile and conflict-affected settings and marginalized populations.

Contributing to Ending the Preventable Deaths of mothers, babies and children by 2030 (EPD) is a UK government commitment and is a core health objective within the International Development Strategy.
