THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (NAS) AND THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (RAS) EACH FORMED A COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL SECURITY AND ARMS CONTROL (CISAC) IN 1980 TO CONDUCT A SECURITY DIALOGUE AMONG NUCLEAR SCIENTISTS, RETIRED MILITARY OFFICERS, AND POLICY EXPERTS.
