Summary
NASA is contracting for the development of an Ionomer-Membrane Water Processor (IWP) brine processor system for flight demonstration on the International Space Station. The system must recover greater than 98% of water from wastewater sources (urine, humidity condensate) to support long-duration human spaceflight and future Mars missions. Work includes technology maturation of key subsystems, integrated system design, manufacturing of flight hardware with 42 bladders, protoflight qualification testing, and post-delivery on-orbit support including crew training materials.

IGF::OT::IGF RECOVERY OF POTABLE WATER FROM WASTEWATER IS ESSENTIAL TO THE SUCCESS OF LONG-DURATION HUMAN SPACEFLIGHT.
